4 Hayao Miyazaki Anime Movies You Must Watch!

FOCUSED OTAKU | MUST WATCH ANIME LIST - Hayao Miyazaki is a legend in the Japanese anime industry. He is a writer, animator, and artist who is well known for his various works not only in Japan, but around the world. His anime movies are always eagerly awaited by loyal fans of anime.

Miyazaki released all of his work through Studio Ghibli, which was founded in 1985. Over the past 30 years, the studio has released many movies that have become both classics and fan favorites. One of the studio's most famous works, Spirited Away, even won an Oscar in 2002 for best animated movie. The movie managed to seize the award from Pixar's Monsters Inc. and DreamWork's Shrek.

1. Princess Mononoke

Princess Mononoke is Miyazaki's best work. Reportedly, Miyazaki spent a lot of time determining the concept of this movie. As a result, the production process of this movie also took up to 3 years.

Set in the Muromachi period of Japan. At that time, the village of Emishi was attacked by a giant monster belonging to an evil demon. As a result of defending Nago, the wild boar monster, the right arm of the last prince of Emishi, Ashitaka, was cursed. However, the curse gave him a powerful ability that was difficult to control.

Ashitaka then goes to Nago's hometown to look for the antidote to the curse. On his way, he meets a group of samurai and a monk. They tell Ashitaka that there is someone who can cure his curse. She is Princess Mononoke, a human child raised by wolves.


2. Spirited Away

The movie tells the story of Jiro Horikoshi, who dreams of flying in a bird-like plane over his house. Shortly after, a large ship appeared and dropped a bomb. The plane crashes and Jiro wakes up from his dream.

When he grew older, Jiro went to Tokyo to study to become a mechanic. He then got a job at an airplane factory. He once again dreamed of becoming an airplane designer. Jiro reveals the design of his dream plane to the company he works for. Finally, Jiro was sent to Germany to study.

4. My Neighbor Totoro

This movie has become one of the favorite movies of families around the world. This movie tells the calm story of Kusakabe Satsuki and his sister, Kusakabe Mei. While playing, Mei met a very large animal sleeping. He then called the animal as Totoro.

While at home, Mei told of her meeting with Totoro. However, his father and brother, Satsuki, don't believe Mei's story. One day, while waiting for their father to come home, Totoro appears beside Satsuki and Mei.
